Let Go of Bullying - TAGZ OUT TOUCH TOURNAMENT 2013Thu Nov. 21st 2013
The Tagz Out tournament is an annual free fun sports days for Intermediate schools to compete against others for the revered annual trophy. This year, held on Thursday 21st November, we had a rocky start due to morning rain in Mangere, however, once the first game was underway the sun came out and we didn't look back!
Leading up to this annual tournament we visited Intermediate schools in Glen Innes, Otahuhu, Papatoetoe and Papakura to begin promoting this years message of 'Let go of Bullying'. At these visits we role play bullying behaviours and brainstorm strategies with the kids to help them deal with bullying by others or prevent them from bullying others. Schools are then invited to enter mixed teams into the tournament where the message will be reiterated during the day while the play touch.
A special thank you to all those that supported this event, especially Local Boards Mangere-Otahuhu and Otara-Papatoetoe who provided funding for a new BBQ, Gazebo, sports gear, food and refreshments, spot prizes and trophies. The Milo team for their refreshments,Transitcare for looking after injuries and the awesome volunteers from The QBE Foundation - with all this help we were able to run a very successful tournament.
